Abstract

Work related accidents on construction peojects remain an important concern because construction activities involve various potential hazards associated with workers’ safety behavior and working environmental conditions. Differences in workers’ characteristics based on age are also presumed to influence the realationship between safety behavior and work-related accidents. This study aims to analyze the effects of safety behavior and the work environment on work related accidents and to examine the role of age as a moderating variable. Aquantitative approach was employed, with data collected through questionaires. The study involved 55 construction workers selected using purposive sampling. Data were analyzed usjing regression analysis with the Hayes Process macro model 1, to examine the direct effects and the moderating effect of age. The results showed that safety behavior had asignificant effect on work related accidents. The moderation analysis indicated that age did not significantly moderate the relationship between safety behavior and work-related accidents. Nevertheless, age had a direct effect on work related accidents. The coefficient of determinantion (r2) of o.666 indicated that the model explained 66,6% of variance in work related accidents. These findings emphasize the importance of improving workers’ safety behavior as one of the key strstegies for preventing work-related accidents on construction projects
