Design of Noise Level Measuring Instruments in Railway Facilities

Abstract

One of the problems complained about in the field of transportation is noise. Noise caused by transportation traffic activities such as trains, planes and industry. Noise can cause a lack of comfort in activities. The noise from the train is caused by the friction of the wheels on the rail surface. This study aims to design a tool consisting of a sound sensor DFR0034, Arduino uno, and SIM800L to monitor the noise level generated by trains. The design is designed with the Internet of Things to display and monitor noise data automatically. Data can be accessed via SIM800L. Testing the design of the noise measuring device was carried out on Light Rail Transit, Inspection Trains, and Lorry trains. Noise level between 70 decibels to 85 decibels. If the noise level is more than 85 decibels, checks are carried out to maintain passenger comfort and safety, and to avoid damage to the train.
