Performansi Mesin Vespa Pada Variasi Jenis Busi Dan Bahan Bakar Pertalite

Abstract

This experimental study aims to determine the effect of varying spark plugs and fuel on a 1987 Vespa PX 150CC motorcycle. The spark plugs varied between standard, platinum, and iridium. Experiments were carried out using a dyno test and an emission test. They measured the fuel consumption of Pertalite and Pertamax to obtain power, torque, HC, CO, and CO2. The data were displayed in tables and graphs. In terms of power and torque, the test results indicated that the iridium spark plug was better for Pertalite fuel, as it gained the highest power of 8.97 HP at 8800 RPM and 7.44 N/m torque at 8200 RPM. Meanwhile, Pertamax fuel produced 9.23 HP at 8700 RPM and 7.68 N/m of torque at 7700 RPM. Exhaust gas emissions from 600 RPM using standard HC spark plugs showed a slightly high value of 6381 ppm, CO of 2.63%, and CO2 of 1.72. Meanwhile, the results from 600 RPM using platinum HC spark plugs obtained a lower value than using standard spark plugs by 4606 ppm, CO 1.9%, and CO2 1.44%. The results from 600 RPM using iridium spark plugs were much more environmentally friendly than using standard spark plugs and HC 3322 ppm, CO 1.46%, and CO2 1.17%. In conclusion, the Piaggio Vespa PX 1987 motorbike could pass the emission test. A 2-stroke motorcycle issued under 2010 must have an exhaust emission test value with HC 12,000 ppm and CO 4.5%.
